It concentrates on the area from Spencer ís Creek to Mt. Kosciusko. The author, a M.Sc. in Botany from Sydney University, has used black and white drawings for easy identification, and included common plant names, bot anical name, plant family and brief description with each specimen. Technical terms have been kept to a minimum, and a glossary to them is provided at the back of the text, so the book should be readily understood by tourist, naturalist and scientist alike. A valuable guide to the Snowy Mountain flowers. David Campbell, the well-known Australian poet, who lives in the Southern Tablelands and has spent much of his life in the Monaro uplands, has written a poem, "Snow Buttercups", specially for the book.
