Not a Proper Fishing Day at All, Gillett, Alex
3 Gillett, Alex Not a Proper Fishing Day at All
New Zealand The Halcyon Press 1986 0908685068 / 9780908685066 1st Edition Glossy Pictorial Soft Cover Good 12mo Bill Jenks
108 pages including drawings. The author placed himself firmly in the vanguard of New Zealand fishing writers with the publication of ‘A Taupo Fishing Diary.’ Magazine articles published within New Zealand and abroad. He has fished in Britain, Australia and New Zealand and his writing confirms the old axiom that fishing is not just about catching fish. He writes of high country streams, North and South Island lakes and rivers, quiet English water, Irish loughs, and some of the best fishing places in Australia. ‘Not a Proper Fishing Day at All’ takes a nostalgic stroll through all of these and is enhanced by the wit and humour which his readers have come to expect. Gillett writes from a deep love of fishing and the places it has taken him. While ‘Not a Proper Fishing Day at All’ is essentially a book for fishermen there is much to amuse and entertain those unfortunates not afllicted by the ‘Divine Fever’. Some of the subtleties may escape this deprived group, but fishermen will understand.

4 Hansen, Cliff Fishing the Cape Guide
Australia Marlin Publications 1989 1875165088 / 9781875165087 1st Edition Hard Cover Very Good 12mo
144 pages including b/w and colour illustrations. Cliff Hansen calls himself a fisherman and storyteller. But the sort of stories Cliff tells are not about the 'one that got away' because not much has escaped Cliff's hook during a lifetime fishing the exciting waters of northern Queensland. Born and raised on the far north coast, Cliff has been a regional and state fishing champion in estuary, reef and offshore competitions, Fishermen of the Year on two occasions and has represented Cairns successfully in Australian championships. He is a life member of two major Cairns ?shing clubs following his long time membership, spanning 25 years at one club, and valuable service at committee level. He is also an associate member of several other clubs and is still treasurer of one club of which he has been a member for 20 years. On one season Cliff fished 51 consecutive Saturdays for this club and then attended the club dinner on the last Saturday of the year. There isn’t a place in northern Queensland that Cliff hasn't tested with rod and reel. As such his advice is much sought after. For more than 15 years he has been doing fishing and boating reports for a Cairns radio station. At the same time he has been a regular contributor to the Cairns Post and Australia's leading fishing publications. His photographs usually accompany his articles, as Cliffs camera always travels with his fishing gear torecord that record-breaking catch. Finally Cliff’s combined knowledge of one of the world's most exciting and challenging fishing areas has been packed between the pages of a book, along with some of his favourite Fishing yarns.

The Junior Angler: A Fishing Book for Boys and Girls, Hungerford, Rodger
7 Hungerford, Rodger The Junior Angler: A Fishing Book for Boys and Girls
Australia Murray 1977 085566147X / 9780855661472 1st Edition Glossy Pictorial Soft Cover Good 12mo
152 pages including b/w illustrations. Many young people who take up fishing quickly lose patience when they take few, if any, fish - claiming there are no fish about. That would be so. But, again, the young angler is more often at fault in not studying tides, the species of fish likely to be in the particular spot s/he chooses to fish, or by rigging incorrectly. This book is to help you overcome these obstacles and turn fishing into one of the most pleasurable and profitable leisure pastimes in which you have indulged.Your first approach to the sport should be to determine the type of fishing you wish to pursue. Your choice is legion. You can fish the beaches, the estuaries (from boat or shore), the deep sea, or our vast range of freshwater streams and lakes. Added to that is the vast array of equipment, offering different methods of approach to the sport, irrespective of where you intend to fish. Reels come in various designs - the threadline, multiplying, centre pin, and side-cast reel. Rods are available in different lengths and weights and degrees of flexibility. They are all dealt with in special chapters. l have purposely omitted rock fishing, as the young angler would be wise to leave it alone in view of the many hazards and dangers involved. Rock fishing is only for anglers with experience; even then many lives have been lost over the years by rock fishermen taking unnecessary risks. So leave rock fishing to those with the skills necessary to avoid the many risks involved. While the book will deal mainly with the species of fish most likely to he encountered, don't overlook the many "bonuses" for the angler who adopts a more universal rig and bait that will attract fish other than those which we cover in this book. There scratches in a few pages, no text is affected though.

Wedlick was editor of Rod & Line" newspaper for two years and has edited a number of magazines and publications. He has also written 24 fishing books and more than 4000 fishing articles. He has been angling writer for "The Sporting Globe" for close on 20 years. Wedlick says that there ls only one thing that troubles him about angling today. He cannot see, and hopes he is wrong, how angling can survive in the distant future against the pressure of so called progress. The writing is already on the wall but very few are paying serious attention to it. Small stains in the first page.

Australia probably offers some of the best fishing to be found anywhere, whether the preference be for the great lakes and dams or the less accessible rivers and streams. Freshwater Fishing in Australia is a guide to how, where and what to fish in Australian freshwater. lt provides up-to-date information on both the established and the newly emerging fishing grounds. the species of fish to be found there, the best times to fish and the methods most likely to succeed. The great waters of the Murray, the Snowy and the Victorian Lakes are described here as are the quieter, lesser known areas equally likely to yield a good catch. But even the most dedicated angler needs a break every now and again. Gordon Wood has provided much information to help plan a fishing holiday, with or without the family. He lists places of general interest, such as national parks, historical sites, scenic areas, places of specific fishing interest, such as hatcheries, and provides useful details of caravan and camping parks located near fishing waters.
