Lessons in leadership: insights into business from ten of Australia's leading Consultants, Abraham, Keith et al
1 Abraham, Keith et al Lessons in leadership: insights into business from ten of Australia's leading Consultants
Australia 21st Century Business Pub 2002 0958591857 / 9780958591850 1st Edition Glossy Pictorial Soft Cover Very Good 12mo
120 pages. This book is an Owners Manual for the rest of your life. Though the contributors are diverse, they are united by proven success and by a common theme. The theme is leadership. The common assumption is that while there are men and women who were seemingly born to lead, the vast majority of leaders reach their positions of eminence by applying techniques and skills which can be learned. The unifying factor in the diversity of the chapters is that there is always room at the top. Whether it is how to organise and so take charge of your life - make the most of that most precious of all commodities, time -or the nuts and bolts Ways of motivating others to willingly do what you wish, this book shows how to do it.

Germany Books on Demand 2010 3839184754 / 9783839184752 1st Edition Glossy Soft Cover Very Good 12mo
175 pages. A lot of things have happened during the past few years. New media have become far more than just toys for nerds; they now have an impact on everybody's life to a greater extent than ever before - from the cell phone in your pocket and industries fighting to survive down to your old high-school friend you block on Facebook to prevent him from bothering you every time you're online. We're currently experiencing a time of change - a change during which a whole generation is evolving; this generation is growing up with an entirely new media behavior. It can't imagine a world without new media. Now, also, the marketing industry must adapt, since you can hardly reach this generation using means and methods from the past. This book helps traditional advertising and marketing people master the step into the digital era, providing tools to create campaigns that reach the people of today. It was not written by a CMO giving expensive seminars and presenting big theories with no solutions, but by a creative team dealing with and living the changes in media every day. The team, Innovative Thunder, specializes in innovative marketing and has gathered experience by working with three of the world's leading marketing agencies - Jung von Matt, Crispin Porter + Bogusky, as well as currently, R/GA, New York.

Understanding Accounts (Essential Managers), Brookson, Stephen
19 Brookson, Stephen Understanding Accounts (Essential Managers)
U. K. Dorling Kindersley Pub 2001 0751312169 / 9780751312164 1st Edition Glossy Soft Cover Very Good 12mo
72 indexed pages including colour illustrations. The titles in the Essential Managers series provide accessible coverage of the key skills needed to succeed in business. They contain hints and tips, checklists, diagrams and photographs. If you find most accounting guides as complex as accounting itself, you'll love this itty-bitty guide, full of practical techniques that show you how to analyze financial statements, interpret financial data, and measure business performance. On every page, clear text and illustrations cover each aspect of accounting principles and practices, while simple checklists enable you to calculate ratios, identify creative accounting, and make sound financial decisions. And throughout, accessible charts and diagrams explore different options for financial planning and forecasting. Granted, if you're looking for specific or in-depth guidance, you may find this book too general in its approach. But if you're looking for a thumbnail guide to the basics, it'll do just fine. It's worth mentioning that the book is also part of reference publisher Dorling-Kindersley's Essential Managers series--20 itty-bitty books on business and career topics ranging from communication, leadership, and decision-making to the management of time, budgets, change, meetings, people, projects, and teams. Combining the For Dummies series' talent for breaking down a lot of information into bite-sized bits and sidebars with Dorling-Kindersley's signature, crisp graphics on a gleaming white backdrop, they don't represent the cutting edge of business thinking and they don't necessarily reflect any unique individual perspective. Instead, it's as though someone collated the best general thinking on these 20 topics and rolled them out into 72 brightly designed and easy-to-read pages, studded along the way with boxed tips, color shots of a multiracial cast of "coworkers" animatedly hashing through the workplace issues of the day, and a self-test of one's skills in the topic at hand on the last few pages of each volume. Again, they're not for anyone looking for in-depth or focused help on any of the subjects they cover, but they're perfect as a quickie general-interest reference... and let's face it, they're so cute, and look so smart in a neat little stack or row, that you'll probably want to buy a whole bunch to give to your entire department or staff.

Training Australians: A better way of Working, Business Council of Australia
20 Business Council of Australia Training Australians: A better way of Working
Australia Business Council of Australia 1990 0909865337 / 9780909865337 1st Edition Soft Cover Very Good 8vo
142 pages including b/w illustrations. 27 case studies from leading Australian organisations of their best training strategies. In its submission to the Commonwealth Government arising from the Ministerial paper "Industry Training in Australia", the Business Council undertook to collect and disseminate information on best practice in training in leading Australian companies. Companies from a wide spectrum of industrial and commercial sectors were invited to participate. Most of the companies which were asked to participate and contribute to this document did so. Companies which were asked to participate were not exclusively members of the Business Council. Companies were asked to describe their training approaches either for the whole of their company or for a particular operating division or subsidiary. The choice as to which training approach was to become their case study was determined by the company. Therefore, considerable variability exists between the description of each companys training initiatives. Whenever a 'total' view of training was presented for the entire company, the case study often included statements concerning the company's mission, philosophy and overall human resource strategy. Whenever a company preferred to describe a particular initiative or the training involved in a particular subsidiary, the company often chose not to comment on philosophy but restricted its discussion to specific activities. Companies were provided with a suggested five-heading outline for their contribution: forces of change; human resource strategies; skills formation processes; skills formation effort; outcomes. Considerable latitude was given to the companies as to the manner in which they addressed this outline, and to the word length of their submissions. The result is a publication with great diversity and stands as one of the most detailed documentations of current training and development practices in Australia. The Business Council of Australia engaged Wescol Pacific, the Training and Consultancy Division of Wesley College, Melbourne, to collect and prepare for publication this series of case studies.
