Australia Commonwealth Department of Post-War Reconstruction 1949 1st Edition Hard Cover Very Good 8vo
103 pages including a folded large coloured map of Australia. The Commonwealth of Australia first directed its attention toward regional Australia as a specific policy concern under PM John Curtin and the Minister for Post-War Construction and later PM Ben Chifley. Australia Australian Broadcasting Commission 1974 0642973938 / 9780642973931 1st Edition Soft Cover Good 12mo
131 pages. In May, 1971, the names of more than 700 scientists, economists and technologists appeared in an advertisement in the Australian press. These people were expressing publicly their concern about the world, about the environment and what the people of the world are doing to it. A research scientist, Dr John Coulter, was Secretary of the Town and Country Planning Association of South Australia which organized the advertisement and some weeks after its appearance he was principal speaker in an edition of ABC-TV’s Monday Conference. The program aroused tremendous interest and over the next two years Monday Conference programs dealing with questions of the environment and ecology provoked similar responses from a public gradually becoming aware of the implications of rapid social change, technological advances and increased use of resources. The ?ve Monday Conference programs published in this collection contain opinions from people eminent in their fields and whose views are relevant to issues which will continue, inevitably, to be issues of the seventies. The upper corner of the first leaf was cut off - no text affected though.

9 Beall, Pamela Conn; Nipp, Susan Hagen Wee Sing: Nursery Rhymes and Lullabies
Australia Budget Books 1989 Reprint Stapled Pictorial Cover Good 12mo Nancy Klein
63 pages including drawings. How many times have you wanted to sing a song to your child and found you could not remember the words? This has happened to us so many times that we decided to compile a book of our favourite songs and fingerplays to share with our forgetful friends and their wee ones. Music can create a special closeness and joy to those who experience it together. However, for a child, there is more to music than mere enjoyment. Language development, muscular co-ordination, body awareness, rhythmic proficiency, auditory discrimination and self-confidence are a few of the benefits acquired from an early exposure to music. The young child is eager for musical and rhythmic experiences, thus providing a perfect time to introduce songs and fingerplays. Music can also provide a positive resource for approaching those crisis situations with children. As the hour of waiting in the doctor’s office is drawing to a critical climax, nimble those fingers, begin “Three Little Monkeys” and feel the knot in your stomach untie. Or, as the road sign reads 20 more kilometres, bellow out “a chick, chick here” and watch the scowl on Dad’s face disappear as he joins in with “a chick, chick there.” Music may be the answer in moving from crisis to calm. We want to thank our many friends who have contributed to this book. For them, and for you, we hope Wee Sing will bring many special, enjoyable times with your wee ones.

Training Australians: A better way of Working, Business Council of Australia
17 Business Council of Australia Training Australians: A better way of Working
Australia Business Council of Australia 1990 0909865337 / 9780909865337 1st Edition Soft Cover Very Good 8vo
142 pages including b/w illustrations. 27 case studies from leading Australian organisations of their best training strategies. In its submission to the Commonwealth Government arising from the Ministerial paper "Industry Training in Australia", the Business Council undertook to collect and disseminate information on best practice in training in leading Australian companies. Companies from a wide spectrum of industrial and commercial sectors were invited to participate. Most of the companies which were asked to participate and contribute to this document did so. Companies which were asked to participate were not exclusively members of the Business Council. Companies were asked to describe their training approaches either for the whole of their company or for a particular operating division or subsidiary. The choice as to which training approach was to become their case study was determined by the company. Therefore, considerable variability exists between the description of each company’s training initiatives. Whenever a 'total' view of training was presented for the entire company, the case study often included statements concerning the company's mission, philosophy and overall human resource strategy. Whenever a company preferred to describe a particular initiative or the training involved in a particular subsidiary, the company often chose not to comment on philosophy but restricted its discussion to specific activities. Companies were provided with a suggested five-heading outline for their contribution: forces of change; human resource strategies; skills formation processes; skills formation effort; outcomes. Considerable latitude was given to the companies as to the manner in which they addressed this outline, and to the word length of their submissions. The result is a publication with great diversity and stands as one of the most detailed documentations of current training and development practices in Australia. The Business Council of Australia engaged Wescol Pacific, the Training and Consultancy Division of Wesley College, Melbourne, to collect and prepare for publication this series of case studies.

Feminism and Theatre, Case, Sue-Ellen
18 Case, Sue-Ellen Feminism and Theatre
U. K. Macmillan 1994 0333390008 / 9780333390009 Reprint Glossy Soft Cover Very Good 12mo
149 indexed pages. This study serves as both an introduction to, and an overview of, the relationship between feminism and theatre. lt raises questions for the feminist historian who inherits a tradition of theatre history in which women playwrights and actresses are conspicuously absent and constructs an alternative history of what women have done. In analyzing radical feminism and theatre, materialist feminism and theatre and women of colour, the author explains how political movement has influenced the stage. In examining the development of feminist aesthetics, experiments in organization, performance style and audience, Sue-Ellen Case simultaneously traces the new role of the female actor, the new position of the spectator, the new form of play and the new role of the critic. Examples from the United States, Britain, France and Germany are used to illustrate the common ground and the differences between the feminisms and the women in theatre in these countries.
